BRANCH CO-ORDINATOR:-

Our Breaking News is that Lou Tyack has taken back the reins and is back in her role as Branch Co-ordinator. However, in order to reduce her workload in such a large Branch area, I have agreed to act as Assistant Co-ordinator and will fully support her with the running of the Branch and also with Homing.

CURRENT BRANCH VACANCIES
We are currently in urgent need of the following volunteers:-

Fundraising Officer (click here for more information)

We are also keen to find volunteers who would be willing and able to help with any of the following:-

Trapping Officer (click here for more information)

Home Visitors (click here for more information)

Fosterers (click here for more information)

All posts are strictly on a volunteer basis and whilst reasonable expenses incurred while undertaking each role may be claimed back from the Branch, these posts do not attract any sort of wage.
In the first instance, please contact our Branch Co-Ordinator on 01993 831350 for more information.

We are also in need of a ‘runner’ who can support the Branch with jobs such as taking cats to and from vets, distributing supplies to the fosterers. This would ideally suit a retired person with their own transport. Mileage will be paid.

For more information please contact our our Branch Co-Ordinator.

BRANCH AREA
The Branch area spreads from Chipping Norton in the North to Kidlington in the East, Faringdon in the South and Stow on the Wold in the West. We also cover Lechlade, Northleach and Bourton on the Water. This is a massive area and we are always looking for new volunteers to help out in any way they can as well as for new venues for events. Please see the How to Help page for more information.

ONLINE FUNDRAISING
We have an online ‘shop’ which can be found here. Any purchases made through the shop will mean a donation to this Branch, at NO COST TO YOU! You will find links to everything from bank accounts and credit cards through to High Street stores and Broadband. If you shop regularly through Amazon.co.uk then accessing the site through our shop means a donation will be made to our Branch on any purchases made. Please bookmark the shop and remember to visit every time you go shopping.

We also now have an active presence on EBAY. Please see the attached Leaflet.

STAMPS
Please can you continue to save all of your used English and Foreign stamps for the benefit of West Oxfordshire Branch Cats Protection. Please make sure that you leave plenty of paper around the stamps when you cut them from the envelope.
You can either send them to the Branch Co-ordinator or pass them to one of our representatives at an event.

BBC News - Jan 2008 - LIFELESS CAT REVIVED AFTER BLAZE

A lifeless cat was rescued from a burning house and revived by firefighters on new Year’s Eve.

Crews called to Coxford Road, Aldermoor in Southampton, arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the ground floor and first floor of the home.

There were fears that people were trapped inside but firefighters who entered the semi-detached home found only an unconscious ginger cat.

They revived the animal using oxygen therapy and left it with neighbours.

BBC News - April 2008 - CAT SAVES RESIDENTS FROM FLAMES

Residents at an apartment block in Oxfordshire had a lucky escape from a fire after a cat raised the alarm.

Lucky woke her owner up after the blaze broke out in the ground floor flat in Florence House in Bath Road, Banbury in the early hours of Saturday. The other residents were shaken but unhurt in the fire, which was caused by an electrical fault.

Two fire crews used breathing apparatus, high pressure carbon dioxide and water jets to tackle the fire. Chris Wilson, station manager for Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said the block of flats had a fire alarm but its battery had been removed. He urged people to check their fire alarms regularly to make sure they are working.
